Onkyo and Marantz have developed players and sync converters for the unofficial DVD-Video standard. Nothing has been officially released. Onkyo currently seems to be the most serious contender, so it's possible that they may eventually release a full priced player or a converter/sync version of the player. See1.12 for more information on the unofficial DVD-Video standard. Panasonic and Dell tried to develop a standard in late 1996, but we are not aware of any efforts since then.
Probably. Those would be most expensive since they would need the electronics to remove the mechanics of the disc from the player and slice the cabling back to a normal audio interface. I'm not aware of any players in development that do that.
BD 3D discs require a separate sync controller box to detect start and stop of the audio stream. DVD-Video players could easily be adapted to add a 3D controller if they include an audio interface with the video interface. Unfortunately, there is no standard synchronously outputting a DVD-Video signal (such as that used by DVD-Audio and SACD). It will also be hard to get the audio interface to share the same power source as the video and still playback the CD. d2c66b5586
