Still today, to an extent, in China, though not in Hong Kong or Singapore, feng shui is so popular that some people imagine that they can buy special locations with feng shui that is favorable for them or their building. These include special locations for businesses, love spells, or completely new living quarters. Most notably, however, feng shui, being a rather simple but effective scientific system, has become a new form of fortune tellers in business that are perceived as to be based on scientifically proven principles. These feng shui fortune telling businesses are often growing at a fast pace. Today, in China and some other parts of the world, feng shui is often used as a cover for a spiritual practice, often using Taoist or Buddhist teachings. Also, today feng shui has become a new form of currency exchange or wealth pyramid schemes. The main elements of feng shui are placed on a piece of paper which is then presented as feng shui certificates for business investing or as certificates of residence ownership. The issuers of the certificates claim that successful investment or sale depends on a successful feng shui certificate.[79]
