The open-source FictionBook e-book format employs FB2 files that work with multiple e-readers. Unfortunately, the Amazon Kindle isn't one of them. To make the Kindle read FB2 files, you must employ a workaround: convert the files to a Kindle-supported format. There are several programs you can use to do so. They will convert to a variety of Kindle-friendly formats, such as PDF and MOBI.
As of August 2022, kindle no longer supports mobi in its online utilities to add documents to kindle software. Perhaps older kindles can directly load them, but Amazon has abandoned that format in favor of epub. However I have seen references to kindle epub versus epub for other ebook readers
The Scribe's size and weight make it more of a burden to carry around, especially when you consider the smaller baseline Kindle can fit into a coat pocket. But in all, the Scribe strikes a very good balance between a large-format e-reader and an E Ink note-taking tablet. Folks will probably have some quibbles about the Scribe's high price and the robustness of its mark-up and note-taking capabilities, but we do expect to see the device improve in the coming months with software and feature updates.
Rakuten makes a line of Kobo e-readers that are not only powered by the Kobo store but also support 14 file and ebook formats natively (EPUB, EPUB3, PDF, MOBI, JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP, TIFF, TXT, HTML, RTF, CBZ and CBR). In other words, if you get your ebooks -- or any other digital documents -- from any place besides Amazon, this device is a Kindle alternative that will probably read them. The Kobo device has its own ebook store with thousands of books, and it has built-in support for checking out ebooks from local libraries via the OverDrive service. (You can get library books onto Kindles via OverDrive's Libby app, but it's not as smooth a process.)
Despite having a quad-core 1.8GHz processor with 32GB of storage, an E Ink device like this still feels relatively sluggish compared to an iPad (using an Apple Pencil). But the performance is decent enough and battery life remains a big strong point for E Ink devices -- like other e-readers, the Elipsa's battery life is rated in weeks rather than hours. The Elipsa supports 15 file formats natively (EPUB, EPUB3, FlePub, PDF, MOBI, JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP, TIFF, TXT, HTML, RTF, CBZ, CBR).

Moon+ Reader offers a unique reading pleasure by providing fine control over display settings. The app has a status bar that displays your reading progress. It also provides information on your reading progress within the current chapter apart from the whole book. The app is available for free, though a pro version of the app provides additional statistics, such as the number of books in your shelf, pages turned and reading hours. Overall, Moon+ Reader is a great eBook app for the avid reader.
Epub (electronic publication) is the standard format accepted by eBook publishers. Apple, Kobo, Barns & Noble, and others use Epub as their standard format type. Epub is a globally accepted format type for eBooks and almost every e-reader, regardless of region, can accept Epub2 formatted eBooks.
In simple terms, Mobi is a more advanced and author-friendly format than Epub. Mobi, like Epub, is a globally supported eBook format type that readers from all over the world can use.
A comparison chart can help readers decide which format is best for their needs. Each format has its own advantages and disadvantages, making them better suited for different types of content or devices.
Here is a list of best free FB2 to Kindle converter software for Windows. FB2 or FictionBook is an XML based eBook format that carries text and graphical data. Although, this format is not supported by Kindle eBook reader devices. To read FB2 eBooks in Kindle devices, you need to convert them to one of Kindle supported eBook formats namely AZW, AZW3, or KFX. To do that, I have created this list of FB2 to Kindle converter software.

However, thanks to the never-ending evolution of technology, reading eBooks is as easy as purchasing an Amazon Kindle device or downloading an e-reader app to your mobile device. In this article, we'll focus on the latter. That said, there are so many available options that choosing the best app for your needs can be challenging and confusing based on the various file formats and genres.
The e-reader supports EPUB and PDF formats and Adobe DRM encrypted eBooks too. Plus, it backs eBooks from public libraries. To enhance your reading experience, there are plenty of customization options as well.
If you're a fan of comic books, you've likely heard of CBR and CBZ files, which are container formats for comic books, Manga, and other graphic novels. Unfortunately, many e-readers cannot open those files, but CDisplayEx can, along with PDF files.
Kindles are the most well-known e-readers on the market, and for a good reason. Amazon spearheaded E Ink devices, polishing them to the point that mass adoption is now a reality. This is not only because of quality hardware designs that don't break the bank, but also Amazon's incredible e-book store. These e-books lean heavily on a proprietary format, but that's how Amazon delivers the best e-book formatting in the business. With the 7.8-inch screen on the Kindle Paperwhite, you have plenty of room to display this well-formatted text.
The Nook GlowLight 4e is Barnes & Noble's competitor going up against Amazon's affordable base Kindle model. Of course, Barnes & Noble has offered ePub support since the beginning, which means the Nook is a great device for those who own or plan to purchase a library of ePub e-books. It's a much more open market than the proprietary formats used by Amazon and Rakuten, so you aren't beholden to the prices on the default store built into the e-reader.
Since there are so few large E Ink e-readers, it's nice to see Kobo offering a 10.3-inch device. It's designed to be a competitor for note-taking E Ink devices. Still, it also excels as an excellent e-reader, thanks to its connection to the Kobo store (which offers excellent formatting for its e-books) and ePub support. This way, you can bring your own library and purchase books from other storefronts, greatly expanding the device's versatility.
Fact forward to newer version of firmware (4.something) and newer hardware, such as PB623.I guess that the legendary programmers that wrote software specification for the first generation and designed system architecture, where *everything* is opened to the user either as an option or at least through the config file have left the company.I think that configuration features we see now is just an inertia, and the openness is not primary concern. They screwed up formatting in fbreader for epubs and now fbreader ignores my settings for justification, margins and other things. Why do they need to preserve formatting in fbreader when AdobeReader (with its full support for publisher formatting) is the default reading appFortunately, I can install Coolreader to 4.xy firmware and use that to read epubs. They did introduce a few interesting features, such as DropBox integration, but those are used only very rarely in comparison with fbreader and other features that they managed to screw up.
Finding the right e-book reader apps (also called eReaders) can be difficult. There are a variety of e-book types, plenty of file formats to deal with, and then there are different kinds of books (novels, comics, etc) that make the whole experience a little complicated. However, with the right app, you can turn any phone or tablet into an e-book reader fairly easily.
If you've Googled, you've likely seen all sorts of claims, ranging from some folks telling you that you can put an ePUB on Kindle, to the idea that using Word is the best \"Kindle eBook format.\" The bottom line is, the files that Amazon sells to its readers are, by and large, a single file format, called \"MOBI.\" 153554b96e
