Telecom Software as a Service (SaaS) offers a new vehicle for the industry to meet these needs. SaaS allows telecommunications companies to access the latest software and technologies without the need for large capital investments or extensive in-house IT resources. This means that they can quickly and easily adapt to new developments, such as 5G, IoT, and edge computing, and offer new and improved services to their customers.
ABI Research's overall assessment identified the providers with the greatest ability to scale sustainable impact across the industry. Based on this analysis, ABI Research concludes that, for now, the traditional network equipment vendors are likely to be the best positioned to help telcos improve their overall sustainability strategies and achieve climate targets. \"However, the other supplier groups are increasingly contributing to the sustainability of telco networks every day and should not be underestimated, given the complexities of the sustainability challenge and the innovation needed to advance to net zero carbon emissions,\" Johnson notes. The next most important grouping in the assessment is non-traditional network equipment vendors, while the third tier for reducing industry-wide carbon emissions and waste are the chipset and component vendors and software providers. One company that supersedes this classification is Intel, as an integrated device manufacturing (IDM) leader and technology provider that maintains legacy partnerships with traditional vendors and overlaps in multiple network areas.
As part of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Nokia and Telecom Egypt will also explore joint marketing initiatives and will work to accelerate the development of an IoT partner ecosystem in the country. A number of IoT use cases drive automation, which will help enterprises cut their operational expenses, enhance productivity and bring new services to market faster.
Google Distributed Cloud is built on Anthos, an open-source-based platform that unifies the management of infrastructure and applications across on-premises, edge, and in multiple public clouds, all while offering consistent operation at scale. Google Distributed Cloud taps into our planet-scale infrastructure that delivers the highest levels of performance, availability, and security, while Anthos running on Google-managed hardware at the customer or edge location provides a services platform on which to run applications securely and remotely. Using Google Distributed Cloud, customers can migrate or modernize applications and process data locally with Google Cloud services, including databases, machine learning, data analytics and container management. Customers can also leverage third-party services from leading vendors in their own dedicated environment. At launch, a diverse portfolio of partners, including Cisco, Dell, HPE, and NetApp, will support the service.
In addition to network modernization, we are focused on building an edge ecosystem to help CSPs move beyond connectivity services and monetize the edge. Together, 5G and edge provide a powerful combination to help enterprises continue to digitize their business while leveraging third-party services from our trusted partner ecosystem in their dedicated environment.

Relationships between telecommunications companies and cloud providers are \"complicated and still evolving,\" says Ali. Most telcos are in the process of refining their network transformation strategies and roadmaps, while having to decide between using their own private network cloud solutions or working with the public cloud providers\".
A small number of 'greenfield' telcos, who are building 5G services from scratch, are going all-in on cloud, Ali explains. Examples include DISH Wireless, a US satellite TV company that is building a cloud-native 5G network on the Open RAN standard. Incumbent telcos tend to be more conservative, Ali adds, with \"pragmatic\" providers falling somewhere in between.
It is not just the telcos themselves that are wrestling with the 'telco cloud' paradigm shift. For network equipment vendors such as Nokia and Ericsson, the move to software-defined functionality delivered from the cloud is potentially even more challenging, as it requires a shift from a product-based business model to one based on services.
\"Network operators are making critical investments in updating their networks for 5G and re-evaluating their legacy systems,\" said Daryl Schoolar, practice lead at Omdia. \"As communication networks disaggregate, an open ecosystem of hardware and software vendors is forming to support this transformation. Communications service providers need strategic partners to help organize the ecosystem, provide validated solutions and take responsibility for deployment and operating outcomes. With its experience in digital transformation, IT infrastructure, services, and global network of partners, we are seeing Dell make significant investments in being this missing link supporting CSPs as they build modern mobile communications networks.\"
Dell Technologies is also introducing new reference architectures to span telecommunications edge, core and Open RAN environments. The reference architectures provide full stack guidance, deployment options and operational recommendations for specific use cases to help CSPs quickly and efficiently deploy applications and services enterprises demand. Through Dell Financial Services flexible payment solutions, CSPs can choose flexible payment solutions for the products and services they need to transform or build their networks2.
\"Red Hat believes that the future of edge computing and 5G is rooted in open hybrid cloud,\" said Honoré LaBourdette, vice president, Industry Verticals, Telco, Media & Entertainment, Red Hat. \"Through close collaboration with Dell Technologies over the course of two decades, we are helping companies achieve more from their networks by building more secure 5G-enabled edge systems using Red Hat OpenShift. As the service provider landscape continues to evolve, we look forward to working with Dell Technologies and its expanding partner ecosystem to provide flexible, open and scalable solutions for joint customers.
About Dell Technologies Dell Technologies (NYSE: DELL) helps organizations and individuals build their digital future and transform how they work, live and play. The company provides customers with the industry's broadest and most innovative technology and services portfolio for the data era.
SK Telecom and Korea Telecom (KT) are the main competitors for the South Korean 5G market. SK Telecom acquired spectrum in the 3.5 GHz and 28 GHz frequencies to prepare for deploying 5G. In April of 2019, the enterprise claimed to be the first mobile carrier in the world to launch 5G services to work on 5G smartphones. SK Telecom asserted an edge over rival Verizon, as the former launched 5G services available at the same time as Samsung Galaxy S10 5G smartphone launched in South Korea. Verizon launched mobile 5G services in the U.S. before a 5G enabled smartphone was available to U.S. consumers. SK Telecom has also conducted tests with a 5G Standalone (SA) Core (a core not reliant on the 4G network) for their 5G network in cooperation with Samsung Electronics. 153554b96e
