The news of their appearance on the cover of Playboy, itself, is a huge accomplishment. A few years back, Brooke Taylor and Jayme Knightly were two of 30 players selected to play in a production of "Pride & Prejudice" at the Scottsdale Playhouse. Taylor said she was a little surprised when a recruiter from a school in the SEC called her to find out if she wanted to be one of 46 women to be published in the magazine.
"I thought, okay this is kind of weird," she said. "I got a phone call from the recruiter and she told me she was from a school in the SEC. I said, "Oh really?" and she said that I had been picked as one of three girls from that school to be on the cover of Playboy."
"I don't really know what to say about it," Taylor said. "It kind of comes with super-humungous expectations, and I've always been a very modest person. It's kind of weird. I haven't really had an opportunity to really look at it. The only thing I've seen is when I've looked online. I wish I had known more. I wish I could have spent more time looking into it when I was researching schools."
When then-USC head coach Pete Carroll called and told her the news, she was excited to share the news. With a college degree already to her name, she didn't really think her Playboy appearance would be a big deal.
"I'm just another girl and I had to put up with all the guys in school saying I was going to be on the cover of something. I kept telling them I wasn't going to get to be on the cover of Playboy. And then Coach Carroll called and I was like, 'His voice sounds familiar, but I can't place it.'"
Taylor was just graduating from high school, and she said she was really excited to take advantage of the opportunity. Although she admits taking a free trip to Los Angeles to be photographed is appealing to her, she said she doesn't have any regrets about being on the Playboy cover.
