Prison Break ended its run in September 2009 after six seasons, leaving the show's legacy in the hands of fans and critics. It received positive reviews from critics and fans alike, but never broke out of the ratings basement in the United States and was the second-highest rated scripted show in the season it was canceled, at the time of its cancellation. Its success in international markets, including the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand, was substantial, however.
The show's production designer, Michael Corenblith, chose to depict prison scenes in a brutalist style. Corenblith planned to set the show in the 1960s, and chose the brutalist style for the sake of authenticity.[26] The series was originally scheduled to premiere in early 2005, but was delayed so it could get a series pickup from Fox. After the first season wrapped, Fox gave production studios until January 2006 to finish post-production. It premiered on September 18, 2006, with a two-hour premiere, then aired two episodes a week.[27] The show was nominated for numerous awards, including two Golden Globe Awards for Best Television Series – Drama (2006 and 2007), and one Primetime Emmy Award for Best Drama Series (2006).
As of the season six finale, which aired on September 25, 2009, the show has currently been renewed for a seventh season of 22 episodes, set to air on the FOX network in early 2010. Season seven will begin filming in the summer of 2009. While it was announced that series creator Paul Scheuring is the only confirmed writer, in December 2009, it was announced that a writer from the original series, as well as a writer from the Canadian series The Listener, would join. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Scheuring confirmed that the new season will be set in Bolivia, with Lincoln serving as an advisor to President Ramon Sanchez. In April 2010, it was announced that the new season will be split into two parts, with a two-hour premiere on May 19, and a two-hour finale on June 16. Scheuring and Terrence O'Hara, the show's executive producer, will be writing the two-hour season finale, and the two-hour season premiere. The executive producer for season seven is Vince Gilligan, who also wrote the series finale of season four.
Legendary director Don Siegel (Dirty Harry) delivers a hard-boiled, crime-and-punishment noir in the revenge-driven thriller, The Beguiled. A Southern belle and her two young daughters are terrorized by a group of Confederate soldiers who break into their home. The outraged woman takes matters into her own hands and traps the soldiers in a room where she sets fire to the building. The wounded soldiers soon succumb to the flames and the vengeful matriarch is reunited with her daughters. Based on the novel by American author John Sayles (Return of the Secaucus Seven), the film is directed by Don Siegel and stars Clint Eastwood (The Outlaw Josey Wales) and Geraldine Page (The Far Country). 827ec27edc
