Basic authentication is turned off for Exchange Online mailboxes on Microsoft 365. This means that if Outlook 2013 is not configured to use modern authentication, it loses the ability to connect. For more information, see Basic authentication in exchange online.
To enable MFA for Office 2013 client apps, you must have the following software installed (the version listed below, or a later version) based on whether you have a Click-to-run based installation or an MSI-based installation.
By Default, updates for Click-To-Run installations of MS Office 2013 and 2016 are not offered by Microsoft through Windows updates, rather we need to manually update by opening an application or set it to update automatically.
These steps will enable automatic updates for Click-To-Run installations for MS Office 2013 and 2016. These steps are quite straightforward, and updating a proprietary Microsoft application has never been this seamless. Even if you find yourself at a crossroads while updating these applications, you can read the walkthrough again and update the application at your convenience.
You can also retrieve your Windows product key via a third party program such as NirSoft ProduKey, which scans your Windows registry file for the product keys of other software. Install and run ProduKey to view a list of product keys stored in your registry file. However, it cannot find product keys for all programs. Most notably, Microsoft Office 2013 and Office 365 do not store their product keys in the registry file.
Office 2010 and Office 2013 do not store their product keys in an easily accessible location in the registry file and many third party programs cannot scan for them. However, you can use a script to find the last five digits of the product key.
Update, Microsoft Office 2013 no longer offers to look up with only the last 5 digits. They will only help if you have an email address or an entire product key. (*This may be relevant to other versions that will not display the entire key in the registry)
I don't have a key called bitness in either of these folders. I do have a key called "default" in both of these folders and the value is "unset" My computer came with office 2010 starter (I assume 64 bit). I removed it and tried to do a full install of 32 bit office. I keep getting the following message. the file is incompatible, check to see whether you need x86 or x64 version of the program.
Search the registry for the install path of the office component you are interested in, e.g. for Excel 2010 look in SOFTWARE(Wow6432Node)\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Excel\InstallRoot. It will only be either in the 32-bit registry or the 64-bit registry not both.
The benefit of this approach is that it works for all versions of office, and provides control on every single component in you interest. Furthermore, those keys are in the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT and deeply integrated into the system, so it is highly unlikely they were not accessible even in a sandbox environment.
Ok I just upgrade to Office 2013 on a new computer. I was running outlook 2007 with BCM and have downloaded BCM for the 2013 outlook. It keeps going inactive even after several uninstalls and re-installs. I thought maybe the SQL sever at 2005 was the issue and now have SQL sever 2008. It did allow for more time before BCM goes inactive but it is still happening. Any ideas?
